How to get from Heathrow to Stansted Airport

London has six international airports, Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City and the Southend.  Located in Uttlesford, Essex at about 40 miles away from Central London is the newest and the fourth busiest airport, The Stansted International Airport. The airport has a single passenger terminal with three major parts: The Departures, The Arrivals and the Check in Area and is well equipped with all basic facilities.

The Stansted airport is 62 miles away from the country’s busiest airport, The London Heathrow. Heathrow is located in the London borough of Hillingdon and has five passenger terminals. Passengers travelling from the Heathrow to the Stansted can choose from one of the below options.

The National Express Coach

The National Express Coach is the only direct link between the two airports. This journey takes about 90 minutes and costs around 23 pounds for one way. The coach serves all the five terminals of the airport runs at a frequency of 30 minutes.


There are direct train links between the two airports and passengers have to take the route vie Central London to get from Heathrow to Stansted.  Passengers can take the Heathrow Connect or the Heathrow Express to reach Central London from Heathrow. They can then either hire a taxi or use the Stansted Express from the Liverpool station to reach Stansted from Central London.


The Piccadilly Underground tube from the Heathrow serves the Victoria station throughout the day. Once passengers reach the Victoria station, they can take a short taxi ride to Liverpool station from where they can hail the Stansted Express to Stansted.
