Transportation to the London Eye
The London Eye is located on the south bank of river Thames. EDF Energy is the current sponsors and this Ferris wheel is UK’s most popular paid attraction. It is Europe’s tallest and world’s third tallest Ferris wheel attracting over 3.5 million people every year.
The London Eye requires no introduction when it comes to London tourism. It’s such an awesome modern attraction that stands equal to most of London’s historic attractions. It gives a bird’s-eye view of London from the London Skyline. The wheel has 32 sealed, air conditioned capsules and each capsule carries up to 25 people.
The London Eye is open for the public on all days from 10 AM and the closing time is between 8.30 and 9.30 PM on different months. The ticket office is located in the County Hall. The London Eye is reachable by all means of transportation.
Tube – Waterloo, Embankment, Charing Cross and Westminster tube stations are located within walking distance from the London Eye. Waterloo station is the closest and it takes just 5 minutes from the station to the South Bank. You need to cross the Hungerford Bridge to reach the London Eye from the Embankment and Charing Cross stations and it’s a 15 minute walk. Westminster Station is located opposite to the London Eye close to the House of Parliament and Big Ben.
Rail – Waterloo and Charing Cross stations are located close by. It’s a 5 minute walk from Waterloo Station and a 15 minute walk from Charing Cross Station to the London Eye.
Bus – You can reach London Eye by buses 211, 77 and 381. The RV1 bus route operates between London Eye and Covent Garden via Tate Modern.
Coach – private coaches and minibuses are allowed, but you have to book in advance for the parking bays well in advance. 20 minutes free time is given to drop and pick up the passengers. Any time after the 20 minutes is charged.
Car – Many private transport companies offer taxi transfers to and from all destinations in London. It would be simple and hassle free if you hire a private vehicle for your transportation in London. You book for these taxis as they operate 24/7 across London.
Boat – The Millennium pier is reachable from different piers. A river cruise can also take you to the London Eye.
